Egyptian Police Arrest Unlicensed Parking Attendant After Mokattam Assault Video

CAIRO, December 23, 2025 – Egyptian security forces have identified and apprehended an unlicensed parking attendant following a viral social media video depicting an assault in Cairo’s Mokattam district.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed the incident, stating that the circulated video showed an individual complaining about a parking attendant verbally abusing him. The dispute arose after the citizen refused to pay a fee for parking his vehicle in Mokattam.

Authorities initiated an investigation into the matter. The Ministry noted that no formal complaints had been filed previously regarding the specific incident captured in the video.

Investigators successfully located and arrested the suspect, identified as an unlicensed parking attendant residing in Qalyubia governorate. During questioning, the individual confessed to the actions described in the social media post.

Legal procedures have been initiated against the suspect, and the Public Prosecution is currently handling the ongoing investigation.
