Steam Autumn Sale 2026: Best Game Discounts on AAA Releases and Indie Bargains Through October 8

Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light, and Marathon lead the 2026 event alongside deep catalog cuts on Death's Door, Skyrim, and The Talos Principle II.

Valve’s Steam platform is running its Autumn Sale through October 8 at 1 p.m. ET, offering steep discounts across recent AAA blockbusters and critically acclaimed indie titles.

The event arrives as the gaming industry enters a historically heavy release window in the fourth quarter. Seasonal storefront events like this one serve as a counterbalance for consumers navigating full-price launches that now routinely carry $70 tags for standard editions. Unlike the larger Steam Summer Sale or Winter Sale, which typically feature gamified discovery queues and trading card drops, the Autumn Sale operates as a straightforward discount period without supplemental promotional mechanics.

Two of 2026’s most prominent releases anchor the premium tier of the sale. Resident Evil Requiem and 007 First Light are both discounted by 30 percent, dropping each title below the $50 threshold. These reductions represent some of the first significant price cuts for both games since their respective launches earlier this year, reflecting an industry-wide trend where publishers authorize steeper early discounts to maintain sales momentum against competing holiday releases.

Bungie’s extraction shooter Marathon has fallen to $24. The studio has committed to delivering continued improvements and content updates for the live-service title into 2027. Live-service games frequently see aggressive early discounting on PC storefronts to build the concurrent player populations required to sustain matchmaking ecosystems and long-term monetization models.

Role-playing game Metaphor: ReFantazio carries a 60 percent discount, pricing the 2024 release at $28. Developed by Atlus, the game remains one of the highest-rated Japanese RPGs of the current console generation, and this price point represents its lowest recorded cost on the platform to date.

Smaller independent releases are also participating. ReStory, a retro technology repair simulation game, is priced at $16. Mouse: P.I. For Hire, a noir detective game built entirely around 1930s rubber-hose animation aesthetics, is available for $23. Both titles illustrate how the Autumn Sale functions as a visibility tool for smaller studios attempting to break through algorithmic recommendations during a crowded retail season.

The deepest discounts belong to older catalog titles that have already achieved widespread commercial success but continue to generate revenue through volume pricing. The isometric action game Death’s Door is reduced to $2. Croteam’s first-person puzzle sequel The Talos Principle II costs $3, a notable entry point ahead of the franchise’s concluding installment scheduled for next year. Moon Studios’ metroidvania platformer Ori and the Will of the Wisps matches that $3 price tag.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise and Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are both listed at $4. Skyrim’s inclusion continues a years-long pattern on digital storefronts where the 2011 open-world RPG resurfaces at nominal prices following its multiple re-releases across successive hardware generations.

Purchasing games during these seasonal windows automatically adds them to a user’s permanent Steam library. Valve’s refund policy remains active during sale periods, allowing buyers to request a full refund for any title played for less than two hours and owned for fewer than 14 days, regardless of whether it was purchased at a discount.

All advertised pricing remains locked until the storefront event terminates on October 8 at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
