Bayern Munich Retain Interest in Manchester United Striker Benjamin Sesko
The Slovenian striker remains on Bayern’s long-term radar while continuing his injury recovery at Old Trafford.
Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko as part of their long-term succession strategy for Harry Kane, even as the Red Devils focus their current transfer window priorities on midfield.
According to CFBayern Insider’s Christian Falk, the Slovenian international remains under internal evaluation at the German club. While Bayern recently completed a £47 million move for Ismael Saibari and do not treat a new striker as an immediate priority, manager Vincent Kompany is seeking options suited for a potential two-striker system.
Sesko arrived at Old Trafford last summer in a £74 million transfer and has four years remaining on his contract. His recent absence from pre-season friendlies against Wrexham and Rosenborg stems from an ongoing shin issue rather than transfer movement. The injury previously ruled him out of United’s final three Premier League matches of last season against Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Brighton.
United’s medical staff have managed his recovery workload, leading to his return to outdoor training last week. The club aims to have him fit for their Premier League opener against Hull City on August 22.
Michael Carrick, who assumed head coaching duties following Ruben Amorim’s departure, relied on Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to stabilize United’s attack during the campaign. While midfield remains the focal point of United’s summer business, potential movement elsewhere—including ongoing interest in Joshua Zirkzee—could still alter the squad’s offensive options alongside Marcus Rashford.
