Chelsea Reportedly Eye West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta Amid January Transfer Push
Blues reportedly considering £35m move for midfielder as Flamengo also vies for his signature.

Chelsea, under Liam Rosenior, are yet to secure their first signing of the window, with defensive and midfield reinforcements identified as key priorities for the season’s decisive phase. January additions remain a possibility for the London club.
Brazilian journalist Renan Moura reports Chelsea are now considering a move for West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta. The Hammers reportedly value the player at approximately £35 million for a January departure.
Flamengo has shown significant interest in Paqueta, submitting an initial bid that was rejected. The Brazilian club is expected to return with an improved offer. Chelsea, however, aims to disrupt Flamengo’s pursuit by initiating talks with their city rivals in the very near future.
Paqueta presents a compelling option for Chelsea, offering versatility in midfield, capable of playing both a deeper and more advanced role. His effectiveness with and without the ball could make him a valuable addition, particularly given ongoing fitness concerns surrounding Romeo Lavia.
Sources close to Paqueta indicate a preference for remaining in Europe, viewing it as a better career choice for the 28-year-old during his prime. Despite this, the player is reportedly ‘determined’ to leave England following his treatment over match-fixing allegations.
The coming weeks will reveal if Chelsea can persuade Paqueta to join them this month, or if his resolve to return to his homeland with Flamengo is unwavering. Should he be open to staying in England, other Premier League clubs have also expressed interest.
Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring Paqueta’s situation. However, considering Chelsea’s potential offer, they are likely to emerge as favorites over their local rivals if the midfielder opts to remain in the Premier League.
