Egypt’s Interior Minister Approves 128 Foreign Naturalizations
Minister Tawfik sanctions dual citizenship for some, full naturalization for others.

Egypt’s Minister of Interior, Major General Mahmoud Tawfik, has authorized 128 Egyptian citizens to acquire foreign nationalities. The decision was published in the Official Gazette, Issue No. 289, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
The approvals were issued in accordance with the provisions of the Egyptian Constitution and Law No. 26 of 1975 concerning Egyptian Nationality. Some of the decisions grant permission for citizens to naturalize with foreign nationalities while simultaneously retaining their Egyptian citizenship.
Conversely, other decisions permit citizens to acquire foreign nationalities without retaining their Egyptian citizenship. The specific details for each case are outlined in the data accompanying the individual decisions.
These decisions were originally issued on November 18, 2025, and were signed by the Assistant Minister of Interior for the Minister’s Office Affairs Sector, who is authorized to sign on behalf of the Minister.
