Egypt’s Education Ministry Approves New Teaching Incentive for Extended-Service Teachers
Egyptian educators retained past retirement age to receive bonus from September 2025.

Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education has approved a new teaching incentive for educators whose service is extended beyond the standard retirement age, effective September 1, 2025.
The ministry confirmed that teachers retained in service past retirement will be eligible for this teaching incentive, provided they fulfill their legal quota of classroom hours.
This decision aligns with Article 88 of Law No. 169 of 2025, which amends certain provisions of the Education Law (Law No. 139 of 1981). This article governs the procedures for terminating service and managing teacher files upon reaching retirement age, allowing for retention in service from the beginning to the end of an academic year.
Furthermore, the Ministry highlighted that Prime Minister’s Decree No. 4094 of 2025, specifically concerning the teaching incentive, stipulates in its first article that the bonus is granted to teachers within the educational body who are actively engaged in classroom instruction.
