Cairo Governor Orders Engineering Probe into El-Marg Fire-Affected Buildings

Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber has mandated the formation of a specialized engineering committee to evaluate the structural integrity of properties adjacent to a recent wood warehouse fire on Kafr El-Basha Street in the El-Marg district. The committee’s findings will precede the swift removal of debris, pending the completion of site inspections by the Public Prosecution and criminal investigation to ascertain the incident’s cause.

Dr. Saber confirmed that civil defense forces successfully brought the blaze under control, reporting no injuries or fatalities. Cooling operations are currently underway to secure the site.

The Governor, accompanied by Major General Mohamed Youssef, Cairo’s Security Director, and other executive leaders, oversaw the firefighting efforts. Ten fire engines were deployed to combat the flames.

The National Emergency and Public Safety Network Control Center for Cairo Governorate initially received a report of a fire at a wood warehouse, spanning approximately 2,000 square meters, on Kafr El-Basha Street in El-Marg. The fire extended to several neighboring properties, though no injuries or fatalities were recorded. Executive agencies, civil defense units, and district officials promptly responded to the scene, successfully containing the fire and preventing further spread to adjacent buildings.
