Central Mass. Boys’ Soccer: 12 Standouts Vie for Player of the Week Honors

Three hat tricks, a 17-save effort, and an undefeated keeper highlight this week's ballot

A quartet of offensive explosions headlines this week’s Hometeam Boys’ Soccer Player of the Week ballot, with three players posting at least three-goal games and another factoring in all six of his team’s goals in a single match.

Quabbin senior Jacoby Dilling leads the pack with a four-goal, one-assist output across two matches — a win and a tie — for the Panthers. Uxbridge’s Cam Gray produced perhaps the most dominant single-game line: two goals and four assists in a victory over Worcester Tech, then added a goal and two assists against Whitinsville Christian. Main South’s Said Zahiri matched Gray’s six-point night with three goals and three assists versus Trivium, while Whitinsville Christian’s Pedro Carvalho and Blackstone-Millville’s Dominic Chalas each netted hat tricks.

Shepherd Hill junior Felix Wierbik scored in three straight games, including twice against Oakmont and the lone goal in a shutout win over Nashoba. Fitchburg’s Gio Miller found the net three times across two matches, and Shrewsbury’s Vladyslav Kuchuk posted a brace against Algonquin before adding another against Grafton.

Goalkeepers claim three spots on the ballot. Leicester senior Gavin Bayer turned away 17 shots against Hopedale. Oxford’s Max Boulmetis recorded his seventh and eighth shutouts of the season — blanking Douglas and Abby Kelley — as the Pirates remain undefeated with just two goals allowed all year. North’s Dickson Opoku notched nine saves for his first career shutout in a win over Assabet.

Last week’s winner, Fitchburg’s Yamil Quinones-Baez, edged Bay Path’s Alan Kulpa and Millbury’s Jase Welch in fan voting.
