This change, which restores a multi-game program to Boxing Day, comes after sustained criticism from managers and domestic player unions regarding the rapid 48-hour turnarounds that previously defined the English holiday calendar. The framework spans four distinct rounds from Dec. 26 through Jan. 7, aiming to mitigate player workload amid the expansion of international tournaments and European club competitions.

On Saturday, Dec. 26, seven matches are scheduled, marking a significant shift from the previous season when calendar constraints limited the league to just one fixture on the traditional British holiday. The Boxing Day schedule includes four separate kickoff windows across the day, starting with Aston Villa hosting Leeds United at 12:30 p.m. GMT. The evening portion features Liverpool traveling to face Hull City at 5:30 p.m. GMT, followed by Newcastle United hosting Manchester City at St James’ Park at 8:00 p.m. GMT.

Four fixtures will follow concurrently at 3:00 p.m. GMT on Dec. 26: Tottenham Hotspur against Bournemouth, Fulham hosting Brighton & Hove Albion, Ipswich Town against Brentford, and Everton hosting Sunderland. Matchday activity continues on Sunday, Dec. 27, with three additional games: Coventry City vs. Chelsea at 2:00 p.m. GMT, Manchester United vs. Nottingham Forest at 4:30 p.m. GMT, and Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal at 7:00 p.m. GMT.

To maintain the mandatory 60-hour recovery buffer before the next matchday, the league has scheduled its subsequent round across Tuesday, Dec. 29, and Wednesday, Dec. 30.
