Kai Havertz to Have Scans After Injury in Germany-Netherlands Match
Germany and Arsenal await scan results before setting a recovery schedule.

LONDON — Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is due to undergo diagnostic scans for a suspected hamstring injury after leaving Germany’s UEFA Nations League match against the Netherlands in the first half. Initial indications from team officials suggest he will not be risked for Germany’s upcoming international fixture against Greece while the extent of the injury remains unclear.
The 25-year-old was substituted after approximately 30 minutes, following a heavy challenge from Dutch midfielder Quinten Timber. National team medical staff have also arranged scans for Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala, who picked up a knock in the same match. Both players are awaiting comprehensive imaging results.
Havertz’s status is an immediate concern for Arsenal as the North London club manages a compressed schedule across the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and domestic cup competitions. He has started each of Arsenal’s first five Premier League fixtures this season and has scored three goals in seven appearances across all competitions.
Since joining from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 in a transfer valued at £65 million ($82 million), the German international has become the primary center-forward in manager Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup. If he faces an extended absence, Arteta’s central attacking alternatives include Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus, Belgian forward Leandro Trossard and winger Raheem Sterling, who joined on loan from Chelsea on summer transfer deadline day.
Arsenal also employs Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, the twin brother of Quinten Timber. The German Football Association (DFB) and Arsenal’s medical department are coordinating their review of Havertz’s scan results before finalizing a rehabilitation schedule and determining when he can return to full training.
