Veteran Egyptian Makeup Artist Mohamed Abdel Hamid Dies, Funeral Set

Veteran Egyptian makeup artist Mohamed Abdel Hamid has passed away after a sudden health setback, his son, actor Ahmed Abdel Hamid, announced recently. The funeral prayer is scheduled to take place after Asr prayers at the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed.

Ahmed Abdel Hamid shared the news of his father’s passing on his official Facebook page, writing: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: ‘O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], and enter among My [righteous] servants and enter My Paradise.'”

He further added: “With utmost sadness and sorrow, and hearts believing in Allah’s decree and destiny, my father, the late Mohamed Abdel Hamid Abdel Rahim Hefny, has passed away to Allah’s mercy.”

Mohamed Abdel Hamid had been hospitalized following a sudden health crisis in recent days, a development that had raised concerns among his colleagues and admirers in the artistic community. His children, Ahmed and Aya, had previously asked the public for prayers.

Widely recognized as one of the most prominent makeup artists in the Egyptian entertainment industry, Abdel Hamid contributed to numerous significant works. His filmography includes classics such as “Kaboria”, “An Important Man’s Wife” (Zawgat Ragol Mohem), “Terrorism” (Al-Irhab), “One Thousand and One Nights” (Alf Leila wa Leila), “Abla Hekmat’s Conscience” (Dameer Abla Hekmat), and “Ice Cream in Gleem” (Ice Cream fi Gleem).

Abdel Hamid was married to actress Hanan Adel, who also appeared in the series “Abla Hekmat’s Conscience.” Together, they had two children: actor Ahmed Abdel Hamid and makeup artist Aya Abdel Hamid.

In a televised interview, Hanan Adel recounted the story of her marriage to Mohamed Abdel Hamid. She stated: “Mohamed was like a professor to me because he was the most important and skilled makeup artist, only doing makeup for Faten Hamama. His plan was that he came and asked me who did my makeup, then told me I had to come to him first before doing the scene because things needed adjustment… After that, I was surprised when he proposed to my father.” She also mentioned that she married Mohamed when she was 18 years old.
