LeBron James’ Move to Philadelphia 76ers Triggers Massive Surge in NBA Ticket Demand
StubHub reports a 12.5-fold demand increase for Sixers tickets as James prepares for his 24th NBA season.
Secondary ticket platform StubHub reported a 12.5-fold surge in ticket interest for the Philadelphia 76ers following LeBron James‘ decision to join the team for an unprecedented 24th NBA season. The team vaulted to the top spot in overall ticket demand on the platform after ranking sixth during last year’s schedule release.
The demand is anchored by an Oct. 20 season opener against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. That contest stands as StubHub’s most requested game of the entire 2026-27 NBA schedule, with current get-in prices exceeding $1,500. The game also serves as the backdrop for the Knicks raising their first championship banner in 53 years.
Philadelphia occupies all top five and seven of the top 10 most in-demand games listed on the platform. League-wide Christmas Day demand has increased nearly 50% compared to last season, anchored by James’ return to face the Los Angeles Lakers.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver held back the official release of team schedules while awaiting James’ destination. James announced his commitment via a post on X, reversing an earlier indication that his playing career had ended.
“I still truly love this game, and I have more to give,” James wrote.
The Philadelphia 76ers mark the fourth franchise of James’ career. His arrival follows Philadelphia’s offseason trade for Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics, rebuilding a squad that was swept by New York in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
James enters the season aiming to become the first player in NBA history to win a championship with four different teams. Across 60 games with Los Angeles last season, he averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game, earning his 22nd career All-Star selection.
