Chelsea monitoring Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza, report says
20‑year‑old midfielder linked with Premier League club

Spanish outlet Fichajes reported that Chelsea are monitoring Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza. The 20‑year‑old began his youth career at EF Altorreal, later joining EF San Miguel, before signing for Renero FC in 2017. After two years he entered the Los Franjiverdes academy and made his senior debut for Elche in 2022.
Mendoza featured regularly for Elche in recent seasons, contributed to the club’s promotion last term and recorded three goal contributions across all competitions in the current La Liga campaign. Atletico Madrid signed him on a contract that runs until 2031.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea have been tracking Mendoza’s development and were planning a potential summer signing before his move to the Estadio Metropolitano. Atletico are aware of Chelsea’s interest and have not indicated an intention to sell.
Transfermarkt values Mendoza at approximately £13 million. His contract with Atletico is set to expire in 2031.
Chelsea, after a Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal, are scheduled to play Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this weekend, followed by a league match against Leeds United next week.
