Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly vying for the signature of Como centre-back Jacobo Ramón, according to a report from CaughtOffside.

Ramón first gained prominence last season at Real Madrid, making six senior appearances and scoring a memorable stoppage-time winner against Mallorca in May. These performances led Como to secure his services during the summer transfer window.

The 6ft 5in defender has since established himself as a regular starter in Serie A, demonstrating potential to develop into a top centre-back. At 21, he stands out among Europe’s young central defenders this season, having scored twice in 17 league appearances and won 92 duels in league action, FotMob data shows.

Major European clubs, particularly in the Premier League, have consequently placed the defensive talent on their transfer radar.

CaughtOffside further reports that Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham are closely monitoring Ramón’s performances at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, eyeing a potential move to England.

Chelsea reportedly views the 21-year-old as a viable long-term option, fitting their youth-focused recruitment strategy. The London club sees him as a player who could evolve into a future Premier League leader.

For Liverpool, Ramón’s pace and composure are said to align well with Arne Slot’s high-tempo, pressing-focused defensive system.

With Premier League interest growing, Ramón’s valuation could exceed £15 million. Real Madrid holds a 50% sell-on clause, meaning Como would need to offer a substantial financial package to secure his transfer, CaughtOffside notes.

The report also names Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Crystal Palace among the clubs competing for the Spain U21 international.

While Como has earned praise for the attacking fluidity instilled by Cesc Fabregas since their promotion, their defensive solidity has been crucial to their European aspirations this season.

Through 19 Serie A matches this season, Como has conceded just 13 goals, a figure surpassed only by fourth-placed AS Roma with 12. Their nine clean sheets also match Lazio and Roma for the league’s highest tally.

Ramón’s commanding performances and leadership in the backline, alongside Marc-Oliver Kempf, are central to this defensive strength. This has set the stage for a potential transfer tussle between Chelsea and Liverpool for his signature in the coming months.
