Egypt’s Primary Schools Set for Early Grade Assessments Amid Election Schedule Shifts
Egypt Adjusts Grade 1 & 2 Assessment Dates Due to Parliamentary Elections

Primary schools across Egypt are preparing to hold final assessments for first and second-grade students in the coming days, adhering to officially announced schedules.
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education stated that final assessments for first and second graders are generally scheduled to commence on Sunday, January 4. However, some governorates will see adjusted dates due to parliamentary elections.

Assessments will begin earlier, on Sunday, December 28, in governorates including Giza, Fayoum, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria, and Beheira. This adjustment accommodates re-elections in invalidated constituencies.
For other governorates, final assessments will proceed as initially planned, starting Sunday, January 4. These evaluations will span three days: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, January 4, 5, and 6.
The Ministry of Education clarified that classroom teachers will administer these final assessments. Teachers are responsible for developing the evaluations, guided by first-grade supervisors, and ensuring student attendance for the examinations.

The Ministry emphasized a mandatory attendance rate of no less than 60% across both academic semesters for first and second-grade students. Failure to meet this threshold will prevent students from advancing to the next grade until they complete a remedial program prepared by the school at the end of the academic year.
The Ministry also specified that results for the 2026 first and second-grade assessments will be reported as “Pass” or “Did Not Pass.” These evaluations will cover core subjects: Arabic Language, Mathematics, Multi-Disciplinary Studies, English, and Religious Education.
