Egyptian Culture Minister, Khaled El-Sawy Plan International Theater Training Hub
New center to foster talent, elevate performing arts in Egypt and region.

Culture Minister Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno met with veteran artist Khaled El-Sawy to discuss bolstering the theatrical movement and exploring avenues of cooperation. The talks centered on establishing an International Center for Theater Arts Training, to be overseen by El-Sawy. The proposed center aims to serve as a specialized global platform for nurturing new generations of theatrical creators, refining the skills of industry professionals, and fostering regional and international exchange of theatrical expertise.
The meeting addressed the center’s launch mechanisms, its future vision, and training programs designed to support young talent, elevate theatrical practices, and align with the latest global trends in performing arts. This initiative seeks to advance the theatrical training system and enhance the efficiency of artistic cadres.
Minister Hanno affirmed the center’s establishment aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to support serious arts, foster human development, and solidify theater’s role as a tool for enlightenment and human expression. He emphasized that investing in training represents a genuine investment in the future of Egyptian culture, considering human capacity building as fundamental to advancing the theatrical movement and ensuring its sustained development.
The Minister highlighted El-Sawy’s deep artistic vision, extensive theatrical and human experience, and his ability to blend authenticity with experimentation. He described El-Sawy as a model of an intellectual artist capable of imparting his expertise to new generations and formulating a serious training project that keeps pace with global shifts in theater arts.
El-Sawy, for his part, expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Culture’s focus on supporting theater and training arts. He stated the project aims to discover a new generation of creators, refine the theatrical capabilities of young artists, and open doors for promising new talents. This, he noted, will help maintain Egypt’s rich theatrical history and influential role in the Arab theatrical movement.
El-Sawy added that the center seeks to cultivate a free and stimulating training environment, offering participants opportunities for learning, experimentation, and interaction with local and international experts. This, he concluded, will help revitalize the theatrical movement and enhance its presence in the contemporary cultural scene.
