Anthropic Puts Claude’s Fragmented Tools Into One Workspace
Anthropic combines Claude’s design, documents, slides, and agentic workflows

San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is consolidating its productivity tools into a single ecosystem called “One Claude,” bringing previously isolated design and agentic work interfaces together. The update also adds direct-in-chat document and slide creation as the company takes aim at enterprise giants such as Microsoft and Google.
Anthropic’s earlier setup separated “Claude Design,” a portal for visual and presentation projects, from “Cowork,” a mode for complex, multi-step agentic workflows. Users could become unsure which space to choose, and progress or data started in one environment did not carry over to the other.
The company is merging “Cowork” with its “Artifacts” feature. Cowork uses agentic AI—autonomous systems capable of executing multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention—to read user-provided files and produce corresponding slides, sheets, and documents. Artifacts, introduced in June 2024 alongside the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model, provides a sidebar workspace where users can isolate, preview, and refine generated assets such as HTML code, interactive websites, and vector diagrams without losing their chat history.
Within the new framework, Claude can assess the requirements of a task and deploy the needed capabilities inside one conversation window, using the user’s existing context, skills, and data connectors. The same interface now includes “Claude Docs,” a native document creation feature that can generate an executive summary, a single-page data sheet, or another text document during an active chat.
Documents appear in a dedicated space alongside the conversation and default to private status. Users can share them with team members for real-time collaborative editing, make changes directly in Claude, and export the results to external word processors including Google Docs and Microsoft Word.
Anthropic is also eliminating the need to open the standalone “Claude Design” portal for visual assets. Presentations and slideshows can be requested inside active chat windows, then edited in real time or downloaded as Microsoft PowerPoint presentations or Adobe PDFs.
The consolidation puts Anthropic into more direct competition with established enterprise productivity suites and with OpenAI, its rival in AI development. OpenAI launched a similar inline workspace feature called “Canvas” in late 2024.
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers Dario and Daniela Amodei, Anthropic has expanded its enterprise footprint and secured billions of dollars from major technology companies including Amazon and Google to develop its Claude model family. In late 2024, the company introduced a “computer use” API that enables its models to interact with standard computer desktops, while the unified “One Claude” features are scheduled to roll out over the coming weeks to Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers across web, desktop, and mobile applications. Free and Team users are scheduled to receive the updated interface shortly thereafter.
