Egyptian Media Feud Escalates: El Khatib Slams Azz Amid Sobhi Film Controversy
El Khatib's 'Chicken Brain' Remark Ignites Social Media Over Sobhi-Azz Spat

Egyptian media personality Yasmine El Khatib has launched a scathing attack on fellow presenter Yasmine Azz, following Azz’s recent remarks concerning veteran actor Mohamed Sobhi. The dispute intensified after Sobhi’s criticism of the film “El Sett.”
El Khatib took to her official Facebook page to share a photo of Mohamed Sobhi, accompanying it with sharp commentary. “I am astonished by the uproar surrounding what was said about the great artist Mohamed Sobhi!” she wrote. “Why do people care about the opinion of a woman who believes that the ultimate way to honor a husband is by giving him half a chicken?! Why do people care about what a woman with a chicken’s brain says?!”
The post quickly garnered significant attention and sparked widespread debate across social media platforms. Many interpreted El Khatib’s remarks as a direct jab at Yasmine Azz, who had previously criticized Mohamed Sobhi.
Yasmine Azz and Mohamed Sobhi
The controversy originated when Mohamed Sobhi criticized the film “El Sett,” asserting that a “major conspiracy” was targeting Egypt. In response, Yasmine Azz addressed Sobhi’s statements during her program on MBC Masr, urging him to “know his limits.”
“If you want to express your artistic opinion, do so,” Azz stated. “But when you speak about a great and brotherly country like Saudi Arabia, know your limits. Adhere to the public etiquette, morals, and values we were raised with, or that you constantly preached about.”
She continued, emphasizing the sanctity of the Kingdom: “Know your limits and be mindful of what you say when you speak about the purest lands on Earth, where the best of mankind, our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, rests. The land of the Sacred House of God, the cradle of revelation, and the Qibla for two billion Muslims. The Prophet, peace be upon him, used to pray atop his camel and circumambulate the Kaaba.”
Azz concluded her remarks with a stern warning: “You are speaking about the land of the Prophet, you are speaking about the land of Islam, the land that God Almighty honored with the Two Holy Mosques, the birthplace of the message, and the home of the Seal of the Prophets. Know your limits, control yourself, and understand what to say and what not to say, because this is shameful, shameful, shameful. This is a major lapse in your entire history, to make a mistake like this.”
