Liverpool and rivals track Fiorentina’s Italy international

Liverpool is among the English top-flight clubs maintaining an active scouting profile on the 22-year-old. The Anfield club’s long-standing monitoring is part of a broader search across Europe, as several Premier League recruitment departments assess Ndour for their medium- and long-term midfield structures.

Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, and EFL Championship side Hull City all submitted formal inquiries about Ndour’s situation during the recent summer transfer window. Those clubs continue to monitor his progress in Italy. Manchester United had also tracked him previously, before redirecting recruitment funds toward alternative options including Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba, and Andrey Santos.

Fiorentina signed Ndour from Paris Saint-Germain in 2025 and currently holds full leverage over his short-term contract status. The Italian club is under no current pressure to sell, although any future transfer would require considerable patience and navigation of a complex financial setup.

That setup dates to Ndour’s departure from Paris. When PSG finalized his move to Fiorentina, the French club secured a 50 percent sell-on clause. Fiorentina would need to command a higher overall fee to maximize its net returns, and English recruitment departments view 2027 as the most realistic window for a potential move to the Premier League.

Born in Brescia, Italy, to a Senegalese father and Italian mother, Ndour began his football development in Brescia’s youth system. He joined Atalanta’s youth academy in 2013 and spent seven years with the Bergamo club before moving to Portugal in July 2020, at age 16, to join Benfica’s academy.

His professional background includes several European leagues. Ndour scored in the final of the 2021–22 UEFA Youth League against Red Bull Salzburg as Benfica won the European youth title. In March 2023, he made his senior top-flight debut in Primeira Liga at 18 years and 223 days, becoming the youngest foreign player to feature in a competitive match for Benfica’s first team.

After his Benfica contract expired in July 2023, Ndour signed a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain. PSG sent him on loan to Portuguese side Braga in January 2024 for consistent playing time, and he scored on his debut against Farense. He later joined Turkish Süper Lig side Beşiktaş on loan for the 2024–25 season before completing his permanent transfer to Fiorentina in 2025.

Ndour also progressed through every stage of Italy’s youth setup, representing the Under-15 through Under-21 levels. He played a central role in Italy’s 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship triumph in Malta and scored during the tournament’s group stage. After making his Italy Under-21 debut in September 2023, he earned his first cap for the senior Italian national team earlier this year.
