Morocco’s Sektioui: Arab Cup Title Desire Matches Jordan’s Ahead of Lusail Final
Coach Tarik Sektioui emphasizes national pride and hard work as Morocco prepares for the highly anticipated Arab Cup showdown.

Morocco’s coach Tarik Sektioui stated his team’s ambition for the Arab Cup title matches that of Jordan. The two nations will compete in the final on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Lusail Stadium, the venue for the 2022 World Cup final, will host the match.
Sektioui spoke ahead of the final clash against his compatriot and friend, Jordan’s coach Jamal Sellami. He expressed the team’s primary concern: to honor national football. Sektioui hopes they will meet the expectations of 40 million Moroccans. He added that while the final match is important, the true goal is to bring the cup back to Morocco, beyond just performance and result.
He stressed the team’s achievements so far resulted from extensive work and significant effort from many individuals. Sektioui insisted all this hard work must culminate in a championship win, not merely reaching the final stage.
The former Porto player affirmed his own players also need this particular title. Sektioui highlighted numerous reasons for their drive. He assured that Morocco’s desire for the championship is identical to that of the Jordanian national team.
Sektioui also addressed whether Yazan Al-Naimat’s injury might provide stronger motivation for Jordan than for Morocco. He acknowledged Jordan’s strong development over several years, including participating in many matches to qualify for the World Cup. However, Sektioui reiterated that no team possesses a greater desire than the other to achieve the title and championship. Sektioui Returns the Compliment to Sellami
Sektioui responded to praise from Sellami regarding his potential to coach the senior Moroccan national team after current coach Walid Regragui. Sektioui lauded Sellami as a professional coach who has honored football both athletically and ethically with the Jordanian national team. He considered Jordan fortunate to have had the Moroccan duo, Hussein Ammouta and then Jamal Sellami, take charge of their technical responsibilities.
Sektioui described his relationship with both Sellami and Ammouta as excellent. He mentioned having faced them in numerous local matches during their time with various clubs. Sektioui stated they are currently leading the present phase of Moroccan football. He expressed hope for more distinguished coaches to emerge in the future to continue their path.
