Arsenal is reportedly preparing to compete with Manchester City for the signature of Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

The Gunners strengthened their defensive options last summer with the arrivals of Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie. Hincapie joined the London club on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, with a conditional obligation to buy.

While Mosquera and Hincapie are primarily central defenders, they also offer versatility, capable of playing at right-back and left-back, respectively.

Despite these additions, Arsenal continues to seek another versatile full-back. The Sun indicates that the club is ready to challenge Manchester City in the pursuit of Livramento by the end of the current campaign.

The 23-year-old will enter the final two years of his contract this summer. Newcastle United could be open to selling him if a new deal is not agreed upon, with a potential transfer fee estimated around £60 million.

Potential Deal Dynamics

Arsenal currently boasts one of the strongest defensive depths in the Premier League. Manager Mikel Arteta’s options at right-back include Jurrien Timber and Ben White, with Mosquera also available for the position when fit.

On the left side of the defense, Arsenal can call upon Riccardo Calafiori, Hincapie, and Myles Lewis-Skelly. However, the possibility of a new full-back arrival remains open ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Ben White has faced a period of inconsistent form and injuries over the past 18 months, during which Timber has emerged as the preferred right-back. Arteta may seek to intensify competition for places in the upcoming season.

The former Brighton player could potentially be offloaded to facilitate the acquisition of Livramento, who has developed into a quality full-back. The Chelsea academy graduate has maintained an 89% pass completion rate this term, alongside averaging five recoveries and three clearances per match.

Livramento has demonstrated strong adaptability across both full-back positions. His potential arrival could also raise questions regarding the future of Lewis-Skelly, who has experienced a challenging second season with the senior squad.

The young defender has largely played second fiddle to Calafiori at left-back for most of the season. When given opportunities, he has appeared unconvincing, with opposition forwards frequently finding space behind him.

Should Livramento make a move to the Emirates, it could lead to the departure of either White or Lewis-Skelly next summer.
