Tottenham Targets Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush After Semenyo Deal Falls Through
Spurs eye Egyptian forward as Pep Guardiola's squad additions could open exit door for Marmoush.

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly considering a move for Manchester City attacker Omar Marmoush, following an unsuccessful bid for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.
The North London club recently failed in its pursuit of Semenyo, who has opted to join Manchester City. A deal for the Ghanaian forward is expected to finalize in the coming days. Spurs have now shifted their focus to Marmoush.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola aims to retain Marmoush within his squad. However, Semenyo’s arrival at the Etihad could prompt the attacker to seek an exit, a situation Tottenham appears ready to capitalize on.
Marmoush offers versatility, capable of playing out wide or as a central striker. The prospect of leading the line for another club could prove enticing for him.
Marmoush joined the Mancunian giants from Eintracht Frankfurt during the 2025 winter transfer window for £59 million. The Egyptian provided valuable cover during Erling Braut Haaland’s injury absence in April, contributing 8 goals and 3 assists that campaign.
Despite his previous contributions, Marmoush has struggled to secure a regular starting spot under Guardiola this season, registering just 1 goal and 1 assist across 389 minutes. He has largely played a secondary role to Patrick Dorgu and Haaland in the starting XI over recent months.
With Savinho sidelined for approximately two months due to injury, Manchester City moved to sign Semenyo to fill the void. Semenyo has been in exceptional form this term, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists in the league, and is expected to become a regular starter.
This development could be a significant concern for Marmoush, potentially leading him to push for a transfer. The former Frankfurt player is most comfortable as a main centre-forward and might be swayed to join Spurs if they can guarantee him a prominent role upfront under manager Thomas Frank.
Marmoush boasts an average of a goal or an assist in every other game when starting as a striker throughout his career. His acquisition would provide a much-needed boost for Spurs as they aim to climb out of the mid-table league battle and secure a Champions League qualification spot.
