Egypt’s Prime Minister Reviews Healthcare Progress at Al-Wadi Family Health Unit
PM Madbouly concludes Giza tour, emphasizes 'Hayah Karima' impact on rural healthcare.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, concluded his tour of projects under the presidential “Hayah Karima” (Decent Life) initiative in Al-Saff district, Giza Governorate, with a visit to the Al-Wadi Family Health Unit. The inspection aimed to assess the level of healthcare services provided to citizens.
During the visit, Dr. Rasha Khodr, Head of the Primary Care and Family Development Sector at the Ministry of Health and Population, briefed the Prime Minister and his delegation. She explained that the Al-Wadi Family Health Unit operates as a primary healthcare facility under the Al-Saff Health Directorate. Its closest primary care counterpart is in Al-Deismi village, while Al-Saff Central Hospital serves as the nearest hospital.

Dr. Khodr noted that the Al-Wadi unit serves the residents of the village and its surrounding areas. It officially opened in 2024, with full operations commencing in June of the same year. The facility spans a total area of 2,500 square meters, with a built-up area of 780 square meters, housing all healthcare services within a single building.
She outlined the unit’s vision: to become a distinguished, high-level medical center offering comprehensive primary healthcare with a modern approach, adhering to the latest Egyptian and international quality standards in line with Egypt Vision 2030. The unit’s mission is to serve all age groups in Al-Wadi, Al-Saff, by providing integrated primary healthcare—promotive, preventive, curative, and educational—with the highest quality standards and embracing digital transformation. This is achieved through a highly competent medical team and state-of-the-art equipment, aiming for both staff and patient satisfaction.

Dr. Khodr also detailed the strategic plan, which includes delivering comprehensive and safe patient care, enhancing beneficiary satisfaction, and providing continuous training and education. It also focuses on achieving clinical excellence through the application of clinical practice guidelines, ensuring modern and efficient infrastructure, developing and implementing information management systems 100%, adhering to integrated operational manuals, maximizing financial resources, and maintaining visual identity.

She added that the unit actively promotes community participation through collaboration between its management and the local Al-Wadi unit, as well as with surrounding schools.
Regarding participation in presidential initiatives, Dr. Khodr highlighted the unit’s involvement in screening for chronic diseases and renal impairment, the President’s initiative for Egyptian women’s health (early detection of breast cancer), infant hearing screening (from birth to 28 days), maternal and fetal health, early detection of colon, lung, prostate, and cervical cancers, and the glaucoma initiative.

Dr. Ibrahim Nasser, Director of the Al-Wadi Family Health Unit, outlined the facility’s structure. The ground floor houses vaccination and child follow-up clinics, a pharmacy, family medicine clinic 1, presidential initiatives clinics, a triage area, laundry services, beneficiary services, a blood and parasite laboratory, the health office, emergency clinic, dental clinic, antenatal care clinic, and sterilization. The first floor includes family planning, health education, Golden 1000 Days, and audiology services, along with accommodation for doctors and nursing staff.

He also detailed the unit’s human resources, which include 6 dentists, 6 family doctors, 3 pharmacists, 3 health supervisors, 19 nursing staff, 3 rural leaders, along with technical staff for statistics, laboratory and maintenance technicians, administrators, workers, and security personnel.
During his tour, the Prime Minister visited the analysis laboratories, engaging in discussions with doctors and service providers about the services offered, the quality of equipment, and the accuracy of test results.

Following this, Dr. Madbouly inspected the doctors’ rest rooms. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, provided an explanation, noting that these rooms are being developed to high standards for expatriate doctors. The Prime Minister also verified the quality of materials and electrical appliances available in the accommodation.
Concluding his tour, the Prime Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to inspecting various service projects implemented under the presidential “Hayah Karima” initiative, aimed at developing Egyptian rural villages and providing a decent quality of life for their residents.
Dr. Madbouly added that tangible progress has been achieved in health and sanitation projects in Al-Saff villages inspected today. He emphasized the government’s efforts to introduce various services to the targeted villages.
The Prime Minister reiterated that education and health are fundamental pillars that the Egyptian state prioritizes. He noted clear progress in student absorption capacity at schools visited in “Hayah Karima” villages, describing it as a positive development. He pledged continued efforts to achieve a qualitative leap in both health and education, as part of broader initiatives to ensure a decent life for all citizens.
