Egypt’s PM Madbouly Underscores Healthcare, Education as Top Priorities During Giza ‘Hayah Karima’ Tour
Madbouly Inspects New Al-Wadi Family Health Unit, Highlights Rural Development Progress

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly concluded his tour of the presidential ‘Hayah Karima’ (Decent Life) initiative projects in Al-Saff district, Giza Governorate, with a visit to the Al-Wadi Family Health Unit. The inspection aimed to assess the level of healthcare services provided to citizens in the rural community.
During the visit, Dr. Rasha Khedr, Head of the Primary Care and Family Development Sector at the Ministry of Health and Population, briefed the Prime Minister and his delegation. She explained that the Al-Wadi Family Health Unit operates as a primary healthcare facility under the Al-Saff Health Directorate. Its closest primary care counterpart is in Al-Deismi village, while the nearest hospital is Al-Saff Central Hospital.
Dr. Khedr further detailed that the Al-Wadi unit serves the village residents and its surrounding areas. Inaugurated in 2024, it commenced full operations in June of the same year. The facility spans a total area of 2,500 square meters, with a built-up area of 780 square meters, consolidating all healthcare services within a single building.
“We have designed a vision for the unit to become a distinguished, high-level medical center, offering integrated primary healthcare with a modern approach,” Dr. Khedr stated. She emphasized adherence to the latest Egyptian and international quality standards, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030. The unit’s mission, she added, is to serve all age groups in Al-Saff’s Al-Wadi through comprehensive primary healthcare – preventive, curative, and educational – fostering individual, family, and community well-being. This is achieved with the highest quality standards, embracing digital transformation, a highly competent medical team, and state-of-the-art medical equipment, while striving for staff and patient satisfaction.
She also outlined the strategic plan, which includes delivering comprehensive and safe patient care, enhancing beneficiary satisfaction, and providing continuous training and education. The plan aims for clinical excellence through the application of clinical guidelines, ensuring modern and efficient infrastructure, and achieving 100% implementation of information management systems. It also focuses on integrated operating procedures, maximizing financial resources, and preserving visual identity.
“We are actively working to enhance community participation through cooperation between the unit’s administration and the local council in Al-Wadi, as well as collaboration with surrounding schools,” Dr. Khedr noted.
Regarding participation in presidential initiatives, Dr. Khedr highlighted the unit’s involvement in screening for chronic diseases and renal impairment, the President’s initiative for Egyptian women’s health (early detection of breast tumors), hearing screening for infants aged 1 to 28 days, maternal and fetal health, early detection of colon, lung, prostate, and cervical cancers, and glaucoma screening.

Dr. Ibrahim Nasser, Director of the Al-Wadi Family Health Unit, provided a detailed overview of the facility’s layout and services. The ground floor houses vaccination clinics, child follow-up, a pharmacy, family medicine clinic 1, presidential initiatives clinics, a triage area, laundry services, patient services, a blood and parasitology laboratory, a health office, emergency services, dental clinic, antenatal care, and sterilization facilities. The first floor includes family planning services, health education, the Golden 1000 Days program, audiology, and accommodation for doctors and nursing staff.
Dr. Nasser further specified the unit’s human resources, which comprise six dentists, six family doctors, three pharmacists, three health supervisors, 19 nursing staff members, and three rural pioneers. Additionally, the team includes technical staff for statistical recording, laboratory and maintenance technicians, administrative personnel, workers, and security staff.
During his tour of the unit, the Prime Minister inspected the analysis laboratories. He engaged in discussions with the doctors and service providers about the services offered, the quality of equipment used, and the accuracy of test results.

Following this, Dr. Madbouly visited the doctors’ rest rooms. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, provided an explanation of their development, noting that these rooms are being upgraded to high standards for expatriate doctors. The Prime Minister ascertained the quality of materials and electrical appliances available in the accommodation.
Concluding his day’s tour, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to inspecting various service projects implemented under the ‘Hayah Karima’ presidential initiative for rural development. This commitment, he stated, aims to ensure a decent quality of life for residents in these villages.
“Tangible progress has been achieved in health and sanitation projects within the Al-Saff district villages inspected today,” Dr. Madbouly added. “We are exerting all possible efforts to introduce diverse services to the targeted villages.”
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that education and health remain fundamental pillars at the forefront of the Egyptian state’s priorities. He noted clear progress in student enrollment capacity at schools visited within ‘Hayah Karima’ villages, describing it as a positive development. Madbouly pledged continued efforts to achieve a qualitative leap in both health and education sectors, as part of broader endeavors to provide a decent life for all citizens.
