Egypt’s PM Madbouly Inspects Key Water Plant in Giza Under Decent Life Initiative

Madbouly oversees El-Saff water treatment plant, boosting supply for 178,000 residents.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by officials, inspected the El-Saff water treatment plant in Giza today. The visit was part of a tour monitoring projects under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative across various governorates.

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny highlighted ongoing, regular monitoring of “Decent Life” projects. He noted coordination among all relevant entities to expedite the completion of remaining works in targeted villages, aiming to serve thousands of citizens while adhering to quality, health, safety, and standard specifications.

Madbouly toured the plant’s components, including the treatment unit building, which houses clarifier and filter stages. He also inspected the filtered water pump unit, featuring main control panels for pumping water into the plant, and activated its operation.

During his inspection, the Prime Minister received a detailed explanation from Colonel Ahmed Abdel Rahman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority regarding the project’s implementation phases and the plant’s components. These include an intake with two Nile suction lines, a raw water chamber with three pumps, two clarifiers with lamella plates, ten Dynasand filters distributed across four cells, a network pump chamber with three pumps, a chlorine chamber, a mechanical dewatering chamber, a ground tank, a backup power generator, two electrical supply sources, a laboratory, and an administrative building.

Colonel Abdel Rahman stated the plant’s design capacity is 34,000 cubic meters per day. Its current production stands at 20,000 cubic meters daily, reflecting the winter season and prevailing water demand.

He added that the project spans a total area of 4,900 square meters. The plant serves 178,000 beneficiaries, supplying water to the entire El-Saff district and Al-Fahmayeen village since its commissioning.

Colonel Abdel Rahman also noted that the purification system utilizes inclined plate settlers and dynamic water filtration filters.
