Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education has issued a significant decision regarding the disbursement of teaching incentives to retired teachers whose service has been extended in schools.

The Ministry resolved ongoing debate concerning the eligibility of educators, whose service was prolonged past the retirement age starting September 1, 2025, to receive the new teaching incentive.

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education determined that teachers retained in service beyond the statutory retirement age will be granted the teaching incentive, provided they fulfill their legal quota of classes.

According to the Ministry, this decision aligns with Article 88 of Law 169 of 2025, which amends certain provisions of the Education Law issued by Law 139 of 1981. This article regulates the procedures for terminating the service and files of teachers upon reaching retirement age during the academic year, allowing them to remain employed until the end of that academic year.

The Ministry further highlighted that Prime Minister’s Decree 4094 of 2025, pertaining to teaching incentives, stipulates in its first article that a teaching incentive shall be granted to those holding teaching positions within the educational body who are actively engaged in classroom instruction.
