John Catsimatidis Warns Foreign Powers Are Targeting U.S. Leadership
Foreign adversaries and trade tensions put U.S. leadership under pressure
The security warnings came amid retrospectives on the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which resulted in 2,977 fatalities across the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. John Catsimatidis, who lost four personal friends and a cousin in the attacks, said an increasing share of the domestic workforce and student population has no living memory of the tragedy.
“I believe that our country is under attack and that if we don’t keep our eyes open, there’ll be another 9/11,” Catsimatidis said. “New York is the target, Washington is the target, and we have to be extra careful.”
The Red Apple Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, a New York billionaire and energy executive, issued the warning during an interview on FOX Business Network. He pointed to adversarial foreign coordination, rising trade tensions, and systemic risks to major American metropolitan centers.
Catsimatidis specifically identified Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea as hostile foreign powers seeking to undermine American executive leadership and weaken U.S. negotiating leverage on the global stage. He argued that foreign adversaries view political cycles, including the presidential election, as opportunities to diminish the country’s standing.
Beyond traditional defense concerns, Catsimatidis addressed cross-border economic friction involving Canada. Bilateral trade between the two nations has faced recurring strains over retaliatory tariff.
He framed former President Donald Trump’s commercial background and bilateral negotiation style as a primary target for international competitors. Catsimatidis said foreign governments calculate they can extract greater strategic and economic advantages if American leadership is weakened.
“The evil empire, whether it’s Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, the evil empire will do anything to make sure that they cripple Trump in the November 3rd election,” Catsimatidis said.
The passage of time, Catsimatidis emphasized, has created a generational gap in public awareness of the Sept. 11 attacks. His comments linked the memory of the attacks to concerns about the security of New York, Washington, and other major American metropolitan centers.
