Haaland’s 12th Goal in 10 Games Seals City Win Over Ipswich
The Norwegian striker reached 12 goals in 10 matches after breaking down a stubborn Ipswich defense at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland scored twice Saturday to push Manchester City past Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium, extending his run to 12 goals in 10 matches across all competitions this season. The Norwegian striker’s 34th-minute header and second-half finish broke down a disciplined Ipswich defense that had repeatedly disrupted Enzo Maresca’s side.
Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Daizen Maeda leveled for Gary O’Neil’s squad two minutes later. The match sat deadlocked until Mateo Kovacic drove from near City’s own penalty area toward the right flank and delivered a cross. Haaland separated from his marker. Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton got a hand on the resulting header. The ball went in anyway.

Ipswich turned the second half into a disjointed, physical affair. City struggled to maintain possession sequences against a team that finished 15th last season but has proven difficult to break down under O’Neil. Iliman Ndiaye eventually threaded a pass from the right channel. Haaland chased it down, left a defender on the ground and beat Walton with a low finish to make it 3-1. Ipswich pulled one back late to set the final scoreline at 3-2.
Maresca, who replaced Pep Guardiola ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, has leaned heavily on his center forward during tight fixtures. Haaland carried his international form from the summer World Cup directly into the domestic schedule. Four goals in his last two club appearances have kept City within striking distance at the top of the Premier League table, where margins between the first four clubs remain razor-thin through October.

The 26-year-old signed a contract extension in early 2025 that runs through 2034. His current output — 12 goals before the end of October — tracks slightly ahead of his debut 2022-23 season, when he scored 36 league goals and won the European Golden Shoe. City host Southampton next weekend. Ipswich travel to face Newcastle United.
