Sharjah FC Appoints José Morais: Veteran Coach Brings Winning Pedigree to UAE Pro League
The Portuguese tactician, known for his work with José Mourinho and multiple club titles, signs a deal through summer 2027.

Sharjah FC announced today, Wednesday, the appointment of Portuguese coach José Morais. The club secured Morais on a contract running until summer 2027.
Morais previously served as an assistant coach to fellow Portuguese manager José Mourinho. He worked alongside Mourinho at prominent European clubs, including Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.
Morais also boasts an extensive head coaching career across Arab, Asian, and African football. His past clubs include Saudi Arabian sides Al-Hilal, Al-Shabab, and Al-Hazem. He also managed Tunisia’s Espérance de Tunis and the UAE’s Al-Wahda. In Asia, he led South Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai and Iran’s Sepahan. Learn more about global football news.
Morais secured six career titles. He claimed two titles with Jeonbuk Hyundai, winning the League and Cup between 2019 and 2020. He also lifted the Saudi League trophy with Al-Hilal in 2021. Earlier, he secured the Saudi Super Cup with Al-Shabab in 2015. Most recently, he won the Iranian Cup with Sepahan in 2024.
