RMK Yachts Unveils Arcane Era and Nova 55m Superyacht Concepts

Dual 55m platforms offer hybrid and ICE propulsion with record-breaking exterior deck space

Turkish shipbuilder RMK Yachts has introduced two distinct 55-meter superyacht concepts, the Arcane Era and Arcane Nova, signaling a strategic push into the competitive mid-size luxury vessel market. Developed in collaboration with naval architects Espen Øeino International and designer Giorgio Cassetta, the pair targets owners seeking customizable platforms that balance expansive exterior living areas with modern propulsion efficiency.

The most significant differentiator between the two models lies in their power architecture and bridge configuration. The Arcane Nova employs a hybrid propulsion system paired with a forward-positioned wheelhouse. This structural shift relocates command functions away from the traditional sundeck position, freeing up substantial volume for owner use aloft. Conversely, the Arcane Era retains a conventional bridge placement on the upper deck and is engineered around an internal combustion engine (ICE) configuration. Both vessels utilize Volvo Penta’s IPS Professional Platform, a pod-drive system increasingly adopted in this size category for its fuel efficiency, reduced vibration, and dynamic positioning capabilities compared to traditional shaft drives.

Exterior volume defines the shared design language of the Arcane series. Both concepts feature the RMK Jumbo Deck, a 35-meter-long expanse offering 190 square meters of usable space. This area is complemented by a 20-meter aft-deck Piazza, creating a continuous outdoor zone that exceeds typical standards for 55-meter yachts. Such dimensions allow for flexible furniture arrangements, dining setups, and tender storage without compromising guest circulation, addressing a common pain point in this length overall where beach clubs often consume primary social real estate.

The dual-concept launch reflects broader industry demand for semi-custom hulls that offer proven engineering with personalized styling. By providing both hybrid and ICE options, RMK addresses varying regulatory environments and owner preferences regarding sustainability versus range. Hybrid systems like those in the Arcane Nova enable silent hotel-mode operations and zero-emission cruising in restricted waters, while the ICE-focused Era appeals to buyers prioritizing long-range capability and lower initial acquisition costs.

Espen Øeino International brings extensive experience in high-volume yacht engineering to the project, ensuring the ambitious deck proportions maintain structural integrity and seakeeping performance. Giorgio Cassetta’s styling integrates these technical requirements with contemporary aesthetics, avoiding the bulky appearance that sometimes accompanies maximized exterior spaces. The collaboration suggests RMK is targeting the upper tier of the 50-60 meter segment, competing directly with established European yards offering similar semi-custom platforms.

Both concepts are currently available for specification and customization through RMK Yachts’ sales network, with delivery timelines dependent on selected propulsion packages and interior outfitting complexity.
