Barcelona secured a 2-0 victory over Guadalajara in the Copa del Rey Round of 32. Coach Hansi Flick acknowledged his team faced difficulties in closing out the match. He later highlighted the second half as crucial for their win.
The team scored both goals in the second half on Tuesday evening, sealing the 2-0 result. Flick stated the opposition’s strong defense made the game challenging. He added, “We knew advancing wouldn’t be simple,” praising the players’ effort, particularly in the second half.
Flick expressed satisfaction with the team’s attitude. He called it “key to the win,” explaining that cup matches are inherently difficult due to opponents’ defensive strategies.
The German coach emphasized the importance of the team’s on-field mentality. He concluded, “Ultimately, the most important thing is the attitude and mentality we showed on the field, and that was good.”
Marc-André ter Stegen started in goal for Barcelona against Guadalajara. When asked if this meant he would be the designated cup goalkeeper, Flick clarified, “No, he only played this match, and no specific goalkeeper will be fixed for the cup competition.”
This appearance marked Ter Stegen’s first game for Barcelona this season. The German goalkeeper had previously remained on the substitutes’ bench since recovering from injury.
