While Musk noted that corporate combinations cannot be formally negotiated during earnings calls due to required regulatory processes, he highlighted expanding joint projects across his business ecosystem. Key joint efforts include the Digital Optimus robotic worker initiative\u2014a collaboration powered by the Grok artificial intelligence chatbot from xAI\u2014alongside the ongoing integration of SpaceX\u2019s Starlink satellite internet network into Tesla vehicles.<\/p>\n

The prospect of a tie-up comes amid significant market volatility for both enterprises. Following its initial public offering on June 12 at $135 per share, SpaceX stock climbed to a peak of $211 on July 16, pushing its Market Capitalization<\/a> to $2.8 trillion. Major Wall Street underwriting firms had projected sustained gains, issuing 12-to-18-month price targets averaging $225 per share. To acquire Tesla under these adjusted market values, SpaceX would be required to issue approximately 82% in new equity, diluting existing SpaceX shareholders down to a 55% majority.<\/p>\n
