The move comes after mixed market responses to the brand’s aggressive downsizing strategy across the C-Class and GLC families, where four-cylinder plug-in hybrid setups replaced larger displacement engines across several trims. With the introduction of the GLC53, performance enthusiasts regain the acoustic and mechanical characteristics of a six-cylinder engine within Affalterbach’s compact luxury crossover family.<\/p>\n

Under the hood, the 3.0-liter inline-6 engine integrates both an electric supercharger and a traditional exhaust-gas turbocharger. This twin-charged setup delivers 443 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque under standard operating conditions, with maximum torque increasing to 472 pound-feet during overboost. Peak horsepower arrives between 5,500 and 6,100 rpm, while peak torque is accessible as low as 2,200 rpm.<\/p>\n

To bolster acceleration and reduce turbo lag, the powertrain incorporates a 48-volt mild-hybrid system<\/a> featuring an integrated starter-generator (ISG). The electric motor contributes an additional 23 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of low-end torque.
