MSI\u2019s ultra-premium Lightning Z edition\u2014limited to just 1,300 units worldwide\u2014normally ships with an integrated All-in-One (AIO) liquid cooler to manage these thermal loads.<\/p>\n<p>During the teardown of the $5,000 graphics card, Hartung\u2019s team discovered an aluminum plate coated with electroless nickel inside the stock AIO block. While the coating is designed to resist wear, mixing aluminum with other metals in an open liquid-cooling loop poses a significant risk of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corrosionpedia.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">galvanic corrosion<\/a>, which can degrade performance and damage components over time.
