Meta is expanding the value proposition of its virtual reality ecosystem by integrating Microsoft’s gaming library directly into its premium subscription service. Subscribers to Meta Horizon+ can now access a newly introduced “starter edition” of Xbox Game Pass at no additional cost, cementing a deeper collaboration between the two technology giants.<\/p>\n

The new offering provides Horizon+ members with a curated catalog of more than 50 Xbox titles. Under the terms of the bundle, users receive 10 hours of cloud gaming access per month, enabling them to stream games directly to their Meta Quest headsets. Additionally, subscribers can download any of the included titles onto a compatible PC or Xbox console for unlimited local gameplay.<\/p>\n

Among the notable titles available in this starter tier are Fallout 4<\/em>, Fallout 76<\/em>, Grounded<\/em>, Overcooked 2<\/em>, DayZ<\/em>, Deep Rock Galactic<\/em>, and SnowRunner<\/em>. The service supports cross-platform cloud saves, allowing players to preserve their progress across PC, Xbox consoles, and VR headsets. It also features online multiplayer capabilities and the ability to stream select games already owned by the user.<\/p>\n

To accommodate the VR medium, Meta has optimized the visual experience within the headset. Users can adjust their virtual screen to various dimensions, scaling up to a massive 26-foot display, and can play within a custom, Xbox-themed virtual environment. While players can currently connect standard Bluetooth controllers, Meta announced that an upcoming software update will allow Meta Quest Touch controllers to emulate a standard Xbox gamepad, eliminating the need for secondary hardware.<\/p>\n

This development marks a significant step in the ongoing partnership between Meta and Microsoft. The collaboration first gained major traction during the Meta Connect<\/a> conference in 2022, where the companies announced plans to bring Windows 365, Microsoft Teams, and Xbox Cloud Gaming to the Quest platform. While Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have been able to stream games on Quest headsets since late 2023, this new integration lowers the barrier to entry by bundling the service directly into Meta’s own subscription tier.<\/p>\n

Microsoft has increasingly utilized strategic partnerships to expand the footprint of its gaming ecosystem beyond traditional consoles. The company recently executed a similar promotional strategy with Discord, offering a Game Pass starter package to Discord Nitro subscribers.
