Kudlow’s comments follow a series of critiques from other conservative commentators who argue that Vance is drifting away from core conservative values.

In the Wall Street Journal, columnist Kim Strassell argued that Vance has gone “AWOL” from his legislative responsibilities. As the president of the U.S. Senate, Vance holds a constitutional role that could allow him to bring Congress together. However, Strassell noted that he has instead spent significant time promoting his book.

Meanwhile, Ben Domenech, writing for the Daily Wire, suggested that Vance is “too online” and overly influenced by social media. Domenech recommended that the vice president take a “nineties summer” to disconnect from digital platforms, spend time outdoors, and focus on his family.

According to critics, this heavy reliance on social media has negatively impacted Vance’s foreign policy commentary. Domenech and the New York Post editorial board both criticized Vance for appearing to blame Israel for the collapse of a poorly constructed peace deal with Iran. The New York Post warned that Vance’s rhetoric on the matter was flirting with “rank antisemitism.”

This foreign policy debate comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where U.S. Central Command has continued military operations targeting Iranian-backed infrastructure.

Beyond foreign policy, Vance’s economic commentary has also drawn sharp rebukes from traditional capitalists. Vance’s recent media appearances, including a controversial interview on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ and a podcast with The Daily Wire, have amplified these policy debates. During his podcast appearance, Vance attacked Milton Friedman, the celebrated champion of free markets and school choice, as well as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, a global icon of free enterprise.

Furthermore, Vance criticized the concept of meritocracy, a stance that Kudlow argued directly contradicts the conservative movement’s efforts to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Kudlow pointed out that President Donald Trump has worked to eliminate woke DEI policies to restore merit-based achievement in American institutions. By attacking meritocracy, Kudlow argued, Vance is unexpectedly aligning himself with the rhetoric of far-left figures who advocate for big-government policies.

Read also:

Multi-State Conservation Effort Drives 45% Surge in American Oystercatcher Populations

Global Road Deaths Fall Significantly but Poor Nations Bear 90% of Fatality Burden

U.S. Freezes Disaster Aid for Virgin Islands Over Systemic Corruption and Mismanagement

Vice President JD Vance is facing a wave of public criticism from prominent conservative media figures and publications, who are questioning his legislative focus, his foreign policy statements on Israel, and his public challenges to traditional free-market economic principles.
