Ground beef reached $6.89 per pound in July, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis data show \u2014 a 10 percent increase over the previous year and a 57 percent surge compared to five years ago. Weather disruptions, persistent drought, and elevated feed and pasture costs have driven the American cattle herd to its lowest level since the 1950s, constraining domestic output even as demand remains high.<\/p>\n
