Early retail promotions are pulling back-to-school shoppers into stores for clothing, electronics, and school supplies, according to live reporting by Lydia Hu from a New Jersey Walmart<\/a> Supercenter where household purchasing is gaining momentum.<\/p>\n

During the second quarter, Walmart achieved growth in e-commerce<\/a> sales across each of its main operating divisions.<\/p>\n

Worldwide e-commerce sales surged 23%, anchored by its online marketplace alongside store-fulfilled pickup and delivery operations, the company revealed in its Q2 financial results published Thursday.<\/p>\n

Growth was even more pronounced within the U.S. market, where e-commerce sales climbed 24% on solid performance across marketplace, advertising, and store-fulfilled delivery channels.<\/p>\n

Store-fulfilled delivery has become an increasingly pivotal strategy for major big-box retailers, allowing companies to convert physical storefronts into regional distribution hubs to lower fulfillment costs and compete directly with digital-native platforms.<\/p>\n

Walmart President and CEO John Furner pointed to the retailer\u2019s online growth as a sign that customers are responding to its “price, speed and convenience.”<\/p>\n

“Our team delivered another good quarter, and we continue to make steady progress on the long-term value drivers of our business,” Furner said in a statement. “Our multi-year growth in e-commerce is evidence that customers are choosing Walmart because we deliver price, speed, and convenience across a broad assortment.”<\/p>\n

Sam\u2019s Club U.S. \u2014 a major division owned and operated by Walmart \u2014 also saw strong e-commerce growth, with sales up 26%, driven by continued growth in club-fulfilled pickup and delivery, according to the report.<\/p>\n

E-commerce expansion extended to Walmart International as well, where online sales went up 19% led by store-fulfilled pickup and delivery.<\/p>\n

Total revenue at Walmart reached $187.9 billion, a 5.9% increase compared to the same period last year, prompting the company to raise its full-year fiscal outlook.<\/p>\n

Pointing directly to the decision to raise annual projections, John David Rainey, Walmart Inc. executive vice president and chief financial officer, emphasized in a statement that “Our business model is only getting stronger and more durable, and we\u2019re pleased to raise our guidance for the year.”<\/p>\n
