Built on Zeekr’s SEA-M architecture, the electric van features a flat floor, low step-in height, sliding doors without a central B-pillar, and seating for up to five passengers. Integrated seatback displays allow riders to select music, monitor route progress, and contact customer support during trips dispatched through the Waymo One smartphone application.

This is the second Waymo expansion announced in the past week. Just days ago, the company said it had been granted permission to bring its driverless cars to the roads in Sacramento and San Diego. Ironically enough for the new van model’s name, Waymo is not yet available in Ojai, California.

The full public availability of the Ojai vans follows regulatory approvals from the California Public Utilities Commission, which granted Waymo authority to expand commercial driverless passenger service across San Francisco and Los Angeles. Waymo currently logs over 150,000 paid driverless trips per week across its commercial service territories, using a combination of Jaguar I-PACE electric crossovers and the newly integrated Ojai van fleet.

Waymo announced today that any riders can now be passengers in its Ojai model vehicles in Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco.
