Polaroid and The Pok\u00e9mon Company<\/a> are launching a collaborative lineup of custom instant cameras, branded film packs, and themed accessories to mark the 30th anniversary of the Pok\u00e9mon franchise. Preorders for the entire product range open August 25 directly through Polaroid and the official Pok\u00e9mon Center store, ahead of a worldwide release on October 5.<\/p>\n

The collaboration features two themed variants built on the compact Polaroid Go Camera Generation 3 framework. The Pok\u00e9mon Sylveon Edition incorporates a white and pink chassis paired with a multicolored neck strap styled after the Fairy-type Pok\u00e9mon’s ribbons and bows. The Pok\u00e9mon Pikachu Edition comes in a yellow body featuring a custom neck strap shaped like Pikachu’s tail. Both ultra-portable units utilize Polaroid’s third-generation Go architecture, incorporating a stronger flash output, USB-C rechargeable internal batteries, and a refined optical lens designed for a closer focal range compared to earlier Go models.<\/p>\n

For anyone looking for something a little more capable, Polaroid is also offering the Polaroid Now Camera Generation 3 \u2013 Pok\u00e9mon Edition. That camera is based on the company’s larger Now model, which shoots full-sized Polaroid film and now comes in the red, white and black coloring of a pok\u00e9ball, complete with a shutter button that’s shaped like a pok\u00e9ball, too. The third-generation Polaroid Now has improved ranging sensors for its two-lens auto focus system and a better-placed light meter that Polaroid says leads to more optimized exposures.<\/p>\n

Complementing the hardware line, Polaroid is introducing custom instant film formatted specifically for both camera sizes. The Polaroid Go Color Film offers collectible frames centered around Pikachu and Sylveon, while the larger Polaroid Color i-Type Film\u2014a battery-free film chemistry engineered for modern i-Type cameras\u2014features frames displaying characters including Togepi, Mew, and Snorlax. Every film cassette includes collectible dark slides printed with character silhouettes. To track collectability across the lineup, Polaroid is establishing a dedicated online web portal where customers can register and catalog each dark slide design they collect. Additional accessories include a Pok\u00e9ball-shaped Polaroid Go carrying case, a themed photo album, and standalone camera straps.<\/p>\n

The Polaroid Go Camera Generation 3 \u2013 Pok\u00e9mon Sylveon Edition and Pikachu Edition will both be available for $100, while the Polaroid Now Camera Generation 3 \u2013 Pok\u00e9mon Edition will be $140. If you’re interested in just the film, you’ll be able to purchase double packs of the Polaroid Go Color Film \u2013 Pok\u00e9mon Pikachu Edition and Sylveon Edition for $25, or the Polaroid Color i-Type Film \u2013 Pok\u00e9mon Edition for $23. All of the cameras, film and accessories will be available to preorder on August 25 and be released on October 5.<\/p>\n

The release aligns with celebrations leading up to the 30th anniversary of the Pok\u00e9mon franchise, which originally launched in Japan on February 27, 1996, with the debut of Pok\u00e9mon Red and Pok\u00e9mon Green on the Nintendo Game Boy console.
