The agreement covers 144 countries for Season 12, putting live video of every practice session, qualifying round, and main ePrix onto streaming feeds starting this December. Roku held the domestic streaming rights since 2023.

Corporate leadership framed the broadcast transition around aggressive global audience targets. “This is a landmark moment for Formula E and reflects the incredible momentum behind our Championship,” said Formula E’s CEO Jeff Dodds. “Disney’s unrivaled global reach and storytelling will introduce Formula E to millions of new fans while bringing them closer than ever to the drama, innovation, and excitement of electric racing. As we enter the GEN4 era, this provides an exceptional platform to accelerate our global growth and continue building one of the world’s most exciting sports properties.”

Broadcast distribution shifts coincide with an engineering leap designed to erase performance gaps with traditional open-wheel series. Early Formula E seasons required drivers to swap physical vehicles mid-race due to limited battery density, whereas the outgoing GEN3 chassis capped output at 350 kW (469 hp).

The incoming GEN4 architecture debuts on track this December with double the output of current vehicles. A twin-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain delivers a baseline 603 hp (450 kW) that rises to 804 hp (600 kW) when drivers trigger Attack Mode. That peak configuration matches the power output of a 2027-spec Formula 1 entry over much of a lap, while a 2027 F1 internal combustion engine generates 602 hp from its V6 setup once the hybrid battery exhausts its charge.

Read also:

JCB Hydromax Reaches 406.320 MPH to Shatter Hydrogen Land Speed Record

JCB Hydromax Shatters Hydrogen Land Speed Record at Bonneville

Rivian Bundles Interior Options and Surcharges Across Updated R1 Lineup

Roku is losing its exclusive US live race package for Formula E as the electric championship migrates to Disney+ and ESPN+ under a new multiyear international distribution contract.
