The leadership pipeline at Apple<\/a> is facing a renewed talent drain as Paul Meade, the executive overseeing the Vision Pro and future smart glasses, prepares to join OpenAI<\/a>. According to Bloomberg\u2019s Mark Gurman, Meade\u2019s departure from the Vision Products Group is set for next week, marking a significant loss for a division tasked with defining the post-iPhone era.<\/p>\n

Meade is expected to join a growing enclave of former Apple veterans at OpenAI, where he will contribute to the development of artificial intelligence Jony Ive<\/a>, Apple\u2019s former design chief, through the acquisition of io\u2014a venture co-founded by Ive and Sam Altman. At OpenAI, Meade will reunite with other high-profile Apple alumni, including Evans Hankey and Tang Tan.<\/p>\n

The exit comes at a sensitive time for Apple\u2019s hardware engineering division. Internal friction has reportedly intensified following structural changes implemented by John Ternus, a top candidate to succeed Tim Cook as CEO.
