A survey of 1,000 likely voters by pollster John McLaughlin shows Republican congressional candidates holding a 49 percent to 36 percent lead over Democrats when the contest is framed as a choice between free-market capitalism<\/a> and big-government socialism, shifting the race from a generic ballot tie.<\/p>\n

The move in voter support is mirrored among independent and moderate voters, who swung toward the GOP by the same margin when presented with economic policy contrasts. The poll results come as party leadership prepares for a midterm convention in Dallas<\/a> scheduled for early September, where economic messaging on growth and affordability will form the core of the political platform.<\/p>\n

The polling momentum coincides with sustained gains across key U.S. industrial and financial indicators. Orders for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft\u2014a closely watched metric for core business investment\u2014rose at an annualized rate of 10.5 percent over the last three months. Shipments in the same category grew 11.5 percent annualized, while unfilled order backlogs expanded by more than 9 percent annualized, reaching multi-decade highs for capital expenditure growth.<\/p>\n

Financial markets have moved in tandem with the broader expansion in manufacturing, construction, and artificial intelligence development.
