Hackers gain remote entry through internet-exposed devices, altering IP addresses and changing administrator passwords. These modifications effectively lock utility operators out of their monitoring dashboards, preventing real-time control over critical distribution processes.<\/p>\n

The physical impact of these disruptions has already manifested in localized operational failures. Victims reported incidents of system flooding and severe drops in municipal water pressure to federal investigators.
