The volatility stems from a preliminary business update by KPIT Tech, which signaled that its financial performance for the first quarter of FY27 will miss previous targets. The company cited a sudden drop in revenue in recent weeks, primarily driven by spending pullbacks from European original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).<\/p>\n
Industry analysts at JPMorgan<\/a> linked the disruption to specific turmoil at BMW and Volkswagen<\/a>. BMW, which represents roughly 12% of KPIT\u2019s revenue, recently issued its own profit warnings, forcing a recalibration of tech spending. This contraction reflects a broader malaise across the European Automobile Manufacturers\u2019 Association<\/a> (ACEA) membership, where high energy costs and slowing demand for electric vehicles have squeezed margins.<\/p>\n KPIT Tech now expects its Q1FY27 reported revenue in U.S. dollar terms to decline by approximately 1% year-on-year. This marks a significant shift for a sector that had previously been insulated by the global transition toward software-defined vehicles and autonomous driving (ADAS).<\/p>\n JPMorgan downgraded KPIT to Underweight, slashing its target price from Rs 700 to Rs 550.
