Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken<\/a> is opening participation in the upcoming initial public offering<\/a> of US sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s to retail investors, expanding its efforts to bridge traditional capital markets with digital assets.<\/p>\n

Under the program, eligible United States residents can submit requests for direct book-entry share allocations at the offering price, while retail users in more than 110 countries can request digital tokens representing the stock. Named JMKEx, these tokenized shares are backed on a 1:1 basis by underlying Class A common stock held in regulated custody.<\/p>\n

Jersey Mike’s, which operates more than 3,300 fast-casual restaurants, plans to list its Class A shares on the New York Stock Exchange<\/a> under the ticker symbol JMKE. The company expects to price its offering between $21 and $25 per share, with final allocations to be determined by underwriters.<\/p>\n

While traditional equity trades during regular market hours, the JMKEx tokenized version will trade 24 hours a day, five days a week on Kraken and participating xStocks Alliance venues. Kraken noted that users can transfer tokenized shares across participating alliance platforms, move them on-chain, and integrate them into compatible decentralized finance applications.<\/p>\n

The move represents a growing effort among digital asset firms to broaden retail access to early-stage public offerings, which historically remain concentrated among institutional funds and high-net-worth clients.<\/p>\n

Kraken previously deployed its tokenized allocation mechanism during SpaceX<\/a>‘s market debut in June, an event that drew competing offerings from platforms including Binance, Bybit, Blockchain.com, Bitget Wallet, and MEXC. However, intense retail demand caused that offering to become more than four times oversubscribed, leading to allocation shortfalls. Several exchanges were forced to cancel their tokenized campaigns and return funds after failing to secure sufficient underlying shares. SpaceX shares initially priced at $135 and recently traded near $115.<\/p>\n

Despite previous supply friction, market participation in real-world asset tokenization continues to expand.<\/p>\n

Data from analytics provider RWA.xyz shows total value distributed across tokenized equities rising from under $500 million in mid-2025 to approximately $1.87 billion, reflecting a 29.4% gain over the past month.<\/p>\n
