Decentralized derivative operator Trade.xyz has pledged to reimburse users who faced forced liquidations following a sudden price anomaly on its SK Hynix<\/a> perpetual contract late Monday.<\/p>\n

At 23:01 UTC on Monday, the mark price for the SKHYNIX perpetual contract dropped abruptly from $1,127.90 to $917.25. In onchain derivative architecture, mark prices are used to value open positions for margin requirements and determine when leveraged positions must be liquidated. The temporary price plunge triggered forced liquidations across affected accounts.<\/p>\n

Trade.xyz stated that the distortion originated from an off-platform transaction rather than activity on its internal order book. The platform\u2019s oracle calculates the US dollar value of South Korean semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix by converting underlying Korean won price feeds using real-time exchange rates. The anomaly occurred after an executed trade on a South Korean pre-market venue was captured by multiple independent data providers and subsequently relayed to the oracle feed. Trade.xyz noted that the oracle worked as intended according to its technical specification.<\/p>\n

SK Hynix is a major global technology supplier producing high-bandwidth memory for artificial intelligence hardware applications. Synthetic equity contracts tracking the chipmaker are among the most active markets on Hyperliquid<\/a>, with recent data showing the SKHYNIX market generating over $1.5 billion in 24-hour volume and maintaining nearly $600 million in open interest. Industry activity in the global semiconductor market<\/a> has increasingly driven trading interest in tokenized equity derivatives.<\/p>\n

Trade.xyz operates under Hyperliquid\u2019s HIP-3<\/a> framework, which enables developers to deploy perpetual contracts tied to external asset feeds. The platform drove over $22 billion of HIP-3\u2019s initial $25 billion in cumulative trading volume and previously launched an officially licensed S&P 500 perpetual contract.<\/p>\n

Describing the planned payout as a one-time discretionary decision, Trade.xyz announced that eligibility criteria will be released shortly, with fund distributions expected in the coming days. The protocol has not revealed the total reimbursement amount or the number of impacted accounts, but confirmed it is reviewing price formation mechanics during extreme market events and considering assigning greater weight to liquidity on its native order books.<\/p>\n
