San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange Kraken<\/a> is expanding its equity tokenization efforts by opening retail participation in the upcoming initial public offering of US sandwich chain Jersey Mike\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Under the structure, eligible investors in the United States can submit orders for traditional book-entry Class A shares at the official IPO pricing. For international participants across more than 110 countries, Kraken is introducing JMKEx\u2014a digital token backed 1:1 by physical shares held in regulated custody accounts.<\/p>\n

Jersey Mike\u2019s, which operates more than 3,300 retail locations, plans to list its Class A common stock on the New York Stock Exchange<\/a> under the ticker symbol JMKE. According to offering documentation, the company anticipates pricing its shares between $21 and $25 per share. Share allocations remain at the discretion of the offering’s lead underwriters and are not guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Following the completion of the IPO, JMKEx will trade 24 hours a day, five days a week on Kraken and participating xStocks Alliance platforms. Traditional shares will trade exclusively during standard US equity market hours. Kraken indicated that holders of the tokenized shares can transfer assets across xStocks Alliance venues, move them onchain, or integrate them into compatible decentralized finance<\/a> protocols.<\/p>\n

The rollout follows mixed results from earlier tokenized IPO products. In June, Kraken and several competing crypto platforms\u2014including Binance, Bybit, Blockchain.com, Bitget Wallet, and MEXC\u2014launched pre-IPO derivative offerings tied to SpaceX\u2019s public debut.<\/p>\n

However, excessive retail demand led to severe allocation shortfalls. The SpaceX<\/a> offering was oversubscribed by more than four times, preventing several major crypto exchanges from securing sufficient stock. Binance, Bybit, Bitget Wallet, and MEXC ultimately aborted their campaigns and returned funds to users.<\/p>\n

SpaceX shares traded on Nasdaq have since slipped from their $135 debut price to around $115 per share.<\/p>\n

Despite operational hurdles in early offerings, institutional and retail interest in onchain real-world assets continues to expand rapidly. Industry analytics from RWA.xyz show the total distributed value of tokenized equities climbing from less than $500 million in mid-2025 to approximately $1.87 billion, reflecting a 29.4% surge over the last month.<\/p>\n
