Egypt Cracks Down on Drug Trafficking, Five Killed in Aswan Raids

Egyptian security forces have dismantled several criminal hubs engaged in drug trafficking and illegal arms dealing across multiple governorates, operations that resulted in the deaths of five highly dangerous individuals in Aswan. The raids also led to the seizure of narcotics valued at over 103 million Egyptian Pounds (EGP).

Information and investigations by the Public Security Sector and the Anti-Narcotics, Weapons, and Unlicensed Ammunition Sector, in coordination with other relevant ministry agencies, confirmed the presence of these criminal hotspots. These hubs comprised extremely dangerous elements involved in smuggling significant quantities of various illicit drugs and unlicensed firearms for distribution.

Following legal procedures, security teams, including the Central Security Sector, targeted these locations. The confrontations led to the deaths of five highly dangerous criminal elements within Aswan Governorate. These individuals had prior convictions, including imprisonment and life sentences, for felonies related to narcotics and unlicensed firearms.

Authorities also apprehended other members of these criminal networks. The operations yielded approximately 1.5 tons of diverse narcotics, including hashish, hydro, shabu, heroin, and opium. Additionally, 71 assorted firearms were confiscated.

Legal measures have been initiated against those apprehended.
