Cairo Police Arrest 13 in Child Exploitation Ring for Begging, Street Vending
Authorities apprehend suspects, rescue 15 minors in Cairo crackdown.

CAIRO – Egyptian authorities have arrested 13 individuals, including three women, for allegedly exploiting minors in begging and aggressive street vending operations across Cairo Governorate.
The General Administration of Juvenile Welfare, part of the Specialized Police Sector, conducted the arrests. Eight of the apprehended individuals had prior criminal records.
During the operation, police found 15 minors with the suspects. These children were actively engaged in aggressive selling and begging, placing them at risk. When confronted, the suspects confessed to their illicit activities.
Legal measures have been initiated against the arrested individuals. The rescued minors were subsequently handed over to their families, who provided pledges to ensure their proper care. For children whose families could not be located, authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to place them in appropriate care homes.
